This past Sunday in Mass, I had a thought (or train of thought) about showing that I’m Catholic through my actions. I’m not sure what spurred this on other than maybe just listening to the priest’s homily.
Looking at myself through my own eyes, I don’t think people would be able to immediately see that I’m Catholic unless I told them, they know me, or someone else told them.
Yes, I go to Mass on Sundays, Holy Days, and special days within the liturgical year. Yes, I was involved with Newman House and FOCUS in college. Yes, I went to Catholic conferences. Yes, I pray every day.
Yes, I am polite, say please and thank you, say yes ma’am/sir and no ma’am/sir, open doors for others, etc. But I think that’s how I was raised within my family and the American South.
Maybe I’m already doing everything I can. But if I’m not, I’m not entirely sure how to go about showing my faith through actions alone. Words, yes, I can come up with a few ideas for how to display my faith.
Maybe there is no more that I can do on my own. All that may be left for me to do is continue doing what I’m doing and allow God to do the rest.
How do you share your faith? Or how do you think you can share your faith from here on out?
