A Journey to Middle-Earth

Hi guys!

So towards the end of last month, I reread The Hobbit. And I started rereading The Lord of the Rings earlier this month. And I just wanted to talk to you guys about the experience thus far.

So, I read these books for the first time back in 2010. So these books were there for me during an important part of my life. And I like to say that while other people had the Harry Potter series, I had The Lord of the Rings.

Reading these books has a certain sense of coming home. Because these books, these stories, have held a special place in my heart for years.

And honestly, I’m liking the books more than the movies. But I think that’s the way that it is with most book to screen adaptations.

But these characters and their stories have had such an impact on my life over the years.

I’ve been able to bond with some of my best friends over these narratives. We’ve made references to them over the years. some of us even have nicknames within our group based on these books.

I’ve been able to bond with my uncle more because of them. We’ve been able to bond over reading them (and other Middle-Earth/Tolkien material). In fact, when The Hobbit movies came out, we would go see them together.

And the way they’re written and the lessons they teach are absolutely beautiful. It’s easy to fall in love with the characters. With both their good characteristics and their flaws.

And as I continue to read the books, I hope to fall even more in love with them. Or at the very least be reminded of why I fell in love with them in the first place.

Until next time, have a great weekend!
