Don’t Turn Back from Reading

Hi guys!

So I had thought about posting about how I’m still struggling to figure out exactly what my vocation is. But that post is going to wait until next week.

Today, I had the idea to update y’all on my reading progress.

I’m currently reading The Lord of the Rings. I’d read it back when I was in middle school. And I fell in love with it. Well, back in August, I decided to revisit Middle-Earth and see if it’s still my favorite fictional world.

I started off by reading The Hobbit. And let me tell ya: the more I read, the more irritated I became with the film adaptations of the book. I thought they added so much unnecessary information, characters, and plot when the original plot was perfectly fine as it was.

After finishing reading The Hobbit, I was still pleased with it, but I was hoping that The Lord of the Rings would still be my favorite.

I began reading The Lord of the Rings early last month. And here we are, halfway through October and I’m still only halfway through the book.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love the world that Tolkien created. It’s just that life keeps getting in the way. Work, taking care of and loving on the dog, being social, going to church, taking care of other adulting things. It’s a good reading day when I can sit down and read 10 pages.

But when I hear the music from the films or music inspired by the films and/or book, or even see a clip from the movies, I’m reminded of why I love the book so much. And I’m reminded of how much of an impact this fictional world has had on my life. And I’m inspired to keep reading. I’m reminded of why I love reading so much.

So I plan on continuing on reading The Lord of the Rings. And I hope that I can dedicate more time to reading it.

Until next time!
